In the broadest sense of the word, a medium is the channel through which a message travels from the source to the receiver.
Medium is singular; media is plural.
Mass media are the channels used for mass communication. A media vehicle is a single componenet of the mass media, such as a newspaper, radio station, TV network, or magazine. Billboards, comic books, posters, direct mail, matchbooks, buttons, radio, television, and film.
Media organizations have people who serve as gatekeepers. Define the term gatekeepers and list examples of who might serve as a gatekeeper.

ReplyDeleteIt literally means someone who guards or monitors passage through a gate:a "gate" "keeper." It's pretty much a person who is a filter. But, the meaning can be applied to many different situations

-A Web master-can filter the website and can erase or add posts
-Bouncer-can filter who goes in a club and who is thrown out of a club

ReplyDeleteGatekeeper: something or someone that controls access to a gate or any other source that needs secrecy or protection. An example of such could be a security officer at an airport. These "gatekeepers" filter what can or cannot be taken on to a plane, and therefore maintain a strong control over the content on the plane.

- Parents who set up parental controls on their family's computer so that they control what their child sees and/or does not see depending on their age or maturity level as deemed by the parent
